Kevin Sexton (General Chairman)
Kevin Sexton serves the BLET as the General Chairman of the LIRR General Committee of Adjustment and the Delegate to the National Division
Brother Sexton began his railroad career in 1999 in the Maintenance of Equipment Department, as a Car Appearance Maintainer. He transferred to the Transportation Department as an Engineer Trainee in November 2001. Brother Sexton qualified as a Locomotive Engineer in January 2003.
Brother Sexton was elected to serve as Division 269’s Alternate Secretary-Treasurer during the 2009 Triennial Elections. Upon Secretary-Treasurer John Bove’s retirement, Brother Sexton ascended to the position of Secretary-Treasurer for the completion of the 2010-2012 term. Additionally, Brother Sexton was elected by acclamation as Secretary-Treasurer for the 2013-2015 term. In 2013 Brother Sexton was appointed as a Special Representative by BLET National President Dennis R. Pierce.
In October 2014 Brother Sexton was appointed as General Chairman of the LIRR General Committee of Adjustment. Subsequently, he was elected to the position at the Intermediate Election that followed. Brother Sexton also served as Terminal President to the Brotherhoods’ Relief and Compensation Fund from October 2011 until October 2014.
As General Chairman, Brother Sexton is also the Pension Director and Trustee to the BLE Pension and Health & Welfare Funds.
Eric Martin serves the BLE-T as the 1st Vice Chairman of the LIRR General Committee of Adjustment.
Brother Martin was born and raised on Long Island where he resides with his son and family. Prior to working for the Long Island Rail Road Brother Martin worked for 15 years in the aerospace research and development industry. During that time he held positions ranging from technician, certified welder, and machinist. Brother Martin started his career with the Long Island Rail Road in October 2002 eventually qualifying and being promoted to Locomotive Engineer in November 2003, where he has and continues to work the Guaranteed Extra List.
Brother Martin was nominated and elected to the position of 1st Vice Chairman during the 2009 Triennial Elections. His duties include the processing of discipline cases, notifying the membership of events affecting them. He also assists with the handling of the day to day operations of the General Committee and is a member of the C3RS Peer Review Team.
As 1st Vice Chairman, Brother Martin is also a Trustee to the BLE Pension and Health & Welfare Funds.
Gilman Lang serves the BLE-T as the 2nd Vice General Chairman and Secretary-Treasurer of the LI General Committee of Adjustment.
Brother Lang was hired on the Long Island Railroad as a trackman in April of 2000. He became an engineer trainee in 2002 and qualified as a locomotive engineer in April 2003. Until being appointed as a committeeman in 2009, Brother Lang worked the guaranteed extra list.
In October 2014, Brother Lang was elected by acclamation as 2nd Vice Chairman and Secretary-Treasurer of the LIRR General Committee of Adjustment. He is responsible for processing the salaries, expenses and taxes for the committee; and processing the memberships’ unpaid time claims. Brother Lang also assists with the handling of the day to day operations of the General Committee and is a member of the C3RS Peer Review Team.
As 2nd Vice Chairman Brother Lang is also a Trustee to the BLE Pension and Health & Welfare Funds.
Duane O’Connor serves the BLET as Division 269’s Secretary-Treasurer.
Brother O’Connor became a union member in March of 1994 when he was hired in the Transportation Department at Newsday. He worked as a class A driver and was elected as an assistant shop-steward for GCIU Local 406 in 2000. In 2001 he was elected as the 1st Assistant Shop Steward and was reelected annually for the duration of his career at Newsday. In 2007 he was also appointed as a Business Agent for Teamsters Local 406.
Brother O’Connor began his career at the LIRR in 2008 when he was hired as a Locomotive Engineer Trainee. He qualified as a Locomotive Engineer in 2009 where he worked the GXL and quickly became a mentor. He was appointed Vice President of the Engineers Assistance Fund until he was elected by acclimation as Division 269’s Alternate Secretary Treasurer in 2018 and 2021’s triennial elections. In 2022, upon Rick Jordans retirement, he ascended to Division 269’s Secretary-Treasurer where he proudly serves the membership today. He is responsible for the overseeing and safe keeping and management of all funds, securities, financial records, and minutes of meetings of BLET Division 269.
Brother Michael Colucci began his career at the Long Island Railroad as an Assistant Conductor on March 3, 1997. He transferred to Engine Service on March 3, 1999 with tours in Training, Transportation Rules-Air Brake and special assignments for new fleet implementation.
Brother Colucci served as an active Locomotive Engineer until he was appointed to the position of Engine Service Coordinator on March 2, 2015. His responsibilities include the coordination of meetings with Maintenance of Equipment, Transportation Rules - Air Brake Examiners and Transportation Management to address issues that directly affect our craft. Additionally, Brother Colucci participates in Mechanical Partnership Committee meetings with FRA Personnel and maintains correspondence with Safety Department Management to ensure Engineer concerns are addressed.
